IRON MONKEY MOVIE REVIEW

STARRING: DONNIE YEN / RONGGUANG YU

DIRECTED BY: YUEN WOO-PING

YEAR: 1993

Donnie Yen, in my opinion, had his greatest performance in this movie than any other movie he ever appeared in. A phenomenal showcase of his Kung Fu skills. He is definitely one of the biggest names in the martial arts movie industry. In Iron Monkey Yen plays as Wong Kei-ying, a martial artists traveling through a town with his son Wong Fei-Hung(Tsang Sze-man). The town was being overrun by a corrupted government, but a masked vigilante named Iron Monkey(Yu Rongguang)would steal from the rich and give to the poor. A Chinese version of Robin Hood.

When Wong Kei-Ying and his son were accused of being Iron Monkey, Wong Kei-Ying set out to capture Iron Monkey in exchange for freedom. This movie was amazing! So amazing it was remastered and re-released by Quentin Tarantino in 2001. I personaly think the original is much better. My second favorite Kung Fu flick of all time. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.
